What's the Learner Permit Test (Online)?

The Learner Permit Test is a 4-6 hour interactive course and assessment. The course teaches you the road rules to follow when driving in Victoria and developing safe driving skills. You may enrol yourself and complete the course online at your ease using any suitable device.

 

Eligibility for enrolment

To enrol for the Learner Permit Test (Online), you must:

  • Be a Victorian resident
  • Be at least 15 years 11 months of age
  • Be medically fit to drive
  • Should not be disqualified from getting a learner permit for more than 12 months from the date of enrolment.

This online course is now available only in English. For interpreter services, make an appointment to sit in the Learner Permit Test In-person at VicRoads Customer Service Centre.

 

Things you need to get enrolled

  • Good Internet connection
  • A valid credit card to pay the course fee
  • A suitable device

Once you enrol, you have 12 months to complete the course.

After passing the assessment, you need to visit any VicRoads Customer Service Centre to provide evidence of your identity to apply for your learner permit and pay for it if required. You will be issued with your learner permit only when you're 16 years of age or older.

After receiving your learner permit, you may start your 120 hours of supervised driving.
